Do I Have The Risk Of Getting HIV After Having Sex?


Hi doctor, I had sex with a partner one and half week back , who is married.This was the first time i had sex and i am not sure i used condomn properly. I am starting to get body pains and feel lethargic . She went for an Elisa test just before we had intercourse and the result was negative...Do i have the risk of getting HIV?I am paranoid on this .Please help me .If so when is the appropriate time for me to get tested ?

Hi, the risk of HIV is low but not zero. Though your partner is HIV negative but being a married one and consenting for sex with you makes it ' a multi partner relationship scenario' which increases the risk of transmission.
You can't be sure that you were hers the only other' partner, other than her husband' and same things goes for her husband' too.
Then why should she get a HIV test prior to your sexual encounter'?
Though her result is negative ,but she might be in window period too.
So my advice -get a HIV test @ 90 days post exposure .
It will bring peace of your mind too.
