I used a ultrasound around 8 years ago for GERD and they said I had tiny gallstones and recommened a internalogist who said I should have my gallbladder removed-Other medical persons said no that I should wait for pain episodes-I didn t take my gallbladder out and have had no pain episodes or fever-could my gallstones have dissolved?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service.
I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.

Yes, there is a possibility that they may dissolve itself but mostly they don't. But the treatment (removing gallbladder) is not needed if there are no symptoms. Most of the time it does not cause any problem. But if it caused any other issues (like pain or rarely jaundice and pancreatitis) then it must be removed. Without symptoms mostly surgery is not done.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
