Do Children Require Rabies Vaccine After A Dog Bite?

Hi! We have a 4month old puppy. We have him since he was 4 weeks old. He just had his rabies vaccine last june.he also had his other vaccines. My two children has been bitten 3days ago but just a scratch on my son s knee and my daughter s thumb. No bleeding. I washed their wounds and put betadine. Our dog is clean and not in contact with other animals or stray animals. Our dog is not acting abnormal. Should my children still need vaccine for the bite? Thank you!

Hi,
Thank you for asking question on health care magic.
Even smallest scratch needs full course of vaccine.
If you are very much confident that your dog is healthy, then you observe the dog for 10 days.
If the dog does not die or become ill within 10 days you can avoid shots.
Even then it is better give 3 shots on days 0,3 and 7 during the observation period.
Hope this answer will serve your purpose
Please feel free to ask any more queries if required
