Do Both Cavedilol And Prinivil Contribute Toward Weigh Gain?

after an angigram, cardologist took me off Toprol and Maxzid and put me on Cavedilol 6.25 mg one time a day and Prinivil 10 mg 2 times a day. I gained 10 lbs quickly. I also started using a Cpap for sleeping. Cardio Dr and sleep dr say both say either change could cause wt gain.......

I understand your concern.

Weigh gain is a side effect reported for both Prinivil (Lisinopril) and Carvedilol.

Usually, weight gain caused by carvedilol would be present in the first week, and will be stabilized in the following days. I hope this will happen to you too. However, carvedilol is causing less weight gain as compared to other beta-blockers.

Prinivil is also causing rapid weight gain. However, we should determine if this weight gain is from the new meds you tried or from the primary heart failure issues you are currently being treated.
