Do Birth Control Pills Causes Heavy Menstrual Bleeding?

Hello My period already last 8 days. Before I always had periods lasting around 4 max 5 days. I always had a heavy flow so Doctor put me on birth control for 3 months. Now I m on my 3rd month supply have left pills for one more week. Could birth control pills cause my longer lasting period. On birth controls pills previous periods were light flow. Thanks for your answer

I understand your concern.
Menstrual disturbances like prolonged bleeding, intermittent spotting and heavy flow are commonly encountered side effects while taking birth control pills. These symptoms generally happens during the first few months of starting the birth control pills and later should stabilize.
If such symptoms continues to occur, then you would need a change of medication which could suit you.
