Do I Need To Visit A Doctor For A Swollen Knee After Falling Off A Horse While Riding?

So earlier on Today I fell off my pony. I landed on my shoulder and my knee I guess hit of the floor. My right knee is slightly swollen now and I can walk on it but really hurts. I can’t do normal movements and it pops when I bend it. I soaked it in the bath and relived the pain for a while but now it’s hurting. I’m going for a stroll round the house every half hour but I can’t walk up the stairs and back down pain free.

Hello,

After falling off a horse since there is a swelling of the knee, an injury to internal structures of the knee is likely. You need to get an MRI scan done to find out the extent of damage and proper treatment.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Praveen Tayal, Orthopaedic Surgeon
