Do I Need To Do A Scan For My Baby As She Fell Down From Height And Have Swollen Lips?
Hi
My Child fell down from her Mom from 3 feets height. Her Lips are very swollen ,although she dont have pain.We gave first Aid like TT and ibruofen .But the swelling didnt go away ,we are trying ICE cubes. We consulted two doctors both told a SCAN is not required.May you please suggest what needs to be done, her activity is good. But we fear of the swollen lips which are very big..?how many days will it take to go off? Do we need a scan ?
Typically, you don't need to seek medical attention for these injuries(no bleeding and pain), and home treatments are quite effective. In the few hours and days right after the injury, ice is probably the most important treatment, as this will help bring down the swelling. Anti inflammatory medicines which you can buy over the counter, such as ibuprofen and naproxen, will also help with the pain and swelling. With these treatments, you should expect things to start getting better soon.
Applying warm salt solution may help in reducing the swelling. Just mix 1 tbsp in a cup of water and apply the solution several times a day with the help of a cotton ball. It might cause burning sensation but will heal the wound faster.
As your doctor has examined and didn't find any wound on lip and gums, swelling will subsequently decrease in size. It will take 4-5 days to resolve depending on the size. No Scan is required.
