Do I Need To Change Medicine If Periods Are Delayed After Taking Thyronorm?

Hi Dr. Samuel, i have thyroid from 3 years, 2 weeks back I got T3,T4 and TSH done, which showed that TSH is more than the required levels. I was taking Thyronorm 50mcg, after the test my doctor increased it to 100mcg. My periods are delayed by 7 days, and still now no sign of periods. Can you please tell me if I need to change the medicine?

Hello and welcome to HCM,
I, Dr Shailja P Wahal instead of Dr Samuel will be answering your query.
I hope it helps you.
A low TSH level indicates hypothyroidism.
Hypothyroidism needs increase in the dose of thyroxine hormone.
The dose of thyroxine has already been increased.
The delay in periods could be due to hypothyroidism.
Hypothyroidism is known to cause menstrual irregularities.
The delay could be due to hypothyroidism but do not worry, increase in dose of thyroxine will correct the menstrual irregularities after some time.

Thanks and take care
