Do Ethambutol, Pyrazinamide And Rifampin Effectively Cure TB?

Hi need your help i am having pulmonary tb , and a cavity is formed by the disease . so im on tb medication since the past 6 months and only 3 days are remaining for the medication to be completed , so am i cured or not . i have given ethambutol, pyrazinamide, rifampin and isonazid for the first two months and only rifampin and isonazid for the next four months so am i cured? Please suggest me i am confused

Hi,

Yes, they are the first-line treatment for the effective eradication of tuberculosis.

As per the history, you have been given the standard treatment of uncomplicated tuberculosis.

If you have an overall improvement in general conditions like feeling better, no fever, good appetite and weight gain, no cough or sputum during the course of treatment and at the end can be assumed as taken as a successful treatment.

Apart from that, you must have a normal ESR, chest x-ray, and negative sputum for AFB to be considered as cured.
