Do BCAA Supplements Cause Chest Pain?

Can amino acids/BCAA cause chest pain? I started working out again last week and taking BCAA in the powder form. I noticed Saturday that I had some slight chest pain when I took a deep breath. I thought may be that I pulled a muscle because it went away after I took tylenol. This is the only new thing I have introduced in my body.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

How long did the pain last? Did it radiated in shoulder, arm, etc.? What was its nature? As you are training, I was wondering have you ever had a check-up before for basic metabolic panel, lipidogram, complete blood count, TSH, and electrocardiography? May be it could be a muscular pain since it has gone away with a painkiller.

I suggest you to do the check-up, especially electrocardiography and visit a doctor in order to be sure as I said before you are training and take the supplements under a medical supervision. Do you have kidney problem? Do you suffer from any other disease? It is better to take them under medical control. Wish you good health and training.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Emilda Belortaja
