Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
In disc herniation, oral pain killers with muscle relaxants are the first line of treatment. In case the response to medical treatment is poor, then surgical discectomy is considered. This can be decided after evaluation the MRI reports.

Orthopaedic Surgeon, Joint Replacement Dr. Saurabh Gupta's  Response
Hello,
Thanks for posting your query,
I understand her back pain . in disc herniation nerves get compressed by the protruded disc.
There are several treatment modalities with medicines, physiotherapy and with injections in the back called epidural injections and root/facet blocks.
If she dont get better with these treatment , surgery is another option, by which the nerves are decompressed by removing the protruded disc (discectomy), which would significantly improve your symptoms

I hope this information has been both informative and helpful
