Diagnosed Patella, On Cartishine 50mg, Shifted To Cartigen, Doing Exercise For Knee. Suggestion?
I have been diagonised with grade 1 chondromalacia patella. Was on 50 mg cartishine for 2 weeks but I had severe diahorrea so now have been adviced to shift to cartigen forte twice a day.I am a marathon runner and have been taking rest since Jul 13.How soon can I run.will the patella runners band (single strip) reduce the stress on my patellar bone during a run.pls advice. I am doing all the strengthening exercise for knee ad swimming and cycling also.
Yes, Patellar runners band will reduce the friction of the knee cap over the femur to some extent but don't be under the impression that it fully guards you.
You need several weeks (minimum 3-4 weeks) to allow the irritated cartilage to settle down. You'll then need several more weeks to slowly build up your activities in order to resume your training schedule.
If you return to running too early, your symptoms may worsen.
Hope this information is helpful. Good day
