I have been dig with ostioporosis. My dr. wants to put me mon Alendronate Sodium 70. I am afraid of the side effects. Is there another treatment that is better? I have RA. I have had a total knee replacement (cause - ostio arthirits) and a severe back surgery because of a fractured back and the vertebra came out of place. (lower back) RA in back, too. I have hiatial hernia and acid reflux. I am 59 years old. Should I even treat the ostio? Sorry about the misspelled words.

Hi, thanks for posting.

I understood very well your problem so I think I can help you.
To avoid side effects of Alendronate sodium you should replace it with Cacit 500 mg Effervescent tablets, dosage 1.5 mg a day. You should control calciuria periodically, it should not exceed 7.5 mmol/24 hours.

For Hiatal Hernia, first of all you should sleep with 2 pillows. Also treat it with Esomeprazole(Nexium) 40 mg a day(on a empty stomach).

You should treat ostioporosis and you should check Blood Pressure, functional kidney.

I wish a fast recover.
