Diagnosed Of Parotid Tumors, Jaw Bone Hurts, Sore Lymph Nodes In Chest. How Serious This Could Get ?
i am trying to research parotid tumors. not sure how to spell that. but have been diagnosed with it. and now am facing several test.....just wondering how often these are found to be malignant ? How serious could this get? could i loose my jaw bone? It hurts really bad and i have found several other lymph nodes in my upper chest by arm pit that are very sore and lumpy. But I did not tell him about those...should I?
15 to 20 % of parotid tumours are found to be malignant. The level of seriousness depends upon many factors including age, grading of tumour, neural involvement, distant metastses etc.Parotid tumours can be very painful because they enclose facial nerve within, which causes severe facial pain when involved. These tumours have a high chance of recurrence also.Lymphatics from the parotid are drained into upper jugular and cervical nodes. So the lymphnodes under your arm pit does suggest some degree of spread. You should definitely tell your doctor all that you haven't disclosed so far. This will go a long way in early diagnosis and better prognosis.
