Diagnosed Helicobacter Pylori Chronic Active, Burning, Stuck Feeling In Throat, Had Ent. What Is Cause And Treatment?

My daughter has been diagnosed with Helicobacter pylori chronic active - but the last 3 months she is having burning sensation in her throat (tonsilis not inflamed) and she feels that her throat wants to close up (has no pain) and she feels that there is something stuck inside but when she eats or drink it s fine. She has been to a ENT who said she may have pulled the muscle in her throat. She is at her wits end !!!! do you think it would be a good idea if she has a scan or MRI of the neck and throat ??? Look forward to hear from you. Kind regards. Dani

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
Since you stated in the query that she is a patient of H pylori .
Now your daughter don't feel any difficulty in deglutition and this is the most important point in this case as there is no disease in muscle of throat , so in my opinion there is no need of any M R I or c t scan.
The patient is feeling that something is stuck in throat , it may be due to .
Esophagitis , diagnosis can be confirmed by physical examination as well clinical history of the patient & with the help of esophagoscope.
As in my so many patient I have noted that esophagitis develops a sensation in the throat that something is stuck in .
As H pylori in itself develops acute gastritis so this is the root cause of all symptoms.
Peptic ulcer disease may be the cause so try raising the head of bed 4 inches with blocks. Don't drink or eat 2 hours before lie down .
Avoid greasy , spicy ,junk foods, caffeinated drinks , alcohol . Antacid ( having oxetacaine in them ) help. If symptoms sever as in your daughter case then need proton pump inhibitors for long time.
In my opinion consult a physician and take treatment .
Good luck. Dr. HET
