Diagnosed Quincke's Edema Or Mastocytosis. Triggered By Physical Pressure. Prescribed Antihistamine. Remedy?
I've had what has been diagnosed as Quincke's edema or mastocytosis, for a number of years. It first appeared while I was under stress working on my PhD in 1970 at OSU. It appeared to be triggered by physical pressure, even if light like standing too long pressing my heel on the floor. I am now 80 and I stillç have but it has been confined to my hands ,wrist sometimes the elbow As apparently still triggered by pressure such as carying a 10 to 20 lb plastic bag looped around my hand. I was told by a doctor in the USA that I was prone to have a histamine deluge in the area and prescribed an antihistamine

Mastocytosis is a group of disorders characterized by a common denominator of increased number of mastocytes.
The increase in mastocytes may be confined to skin or to some organ systems.
Mastocytes are cells which release inflammtory mediators. Histamine is one of them.
Release of inflammatory mediators in health is a normal phenomenon required for inflammatory response.
However, when their number increases and release of histamine increases the manifestations are in the form of itching which may be severe, redness, photo sensitivity, etc.
Treatment options for mastocytosis are limited and consists of anti-histaminics as the main stay. They do not treat the disease but block the action/ effect of the inflammatory mediators.
Try to avoid the stimuli when cause the manifestation of the disease.
When symptoms appear you will to take anti-histaminics.
