Hi,
Thanks for using Healthcaremagic,
After going through the history of your mother, she has diabetic neuropathy with urinary incontinence.
I can appreciate anxiety due to many surgeries in past and her age.

Supra pubic cystostomy with catheter is minor and simple procedure and once the healing takes place periodically catheter can be changed to prevent infections.
You should be watchful about UTIs, Blockage, Bladder Stones, Bladder cancer
Bypass track by urine.
You should take opinion of Urologist regarding this and you can decide about this procedure, I think this will help her; it will definitely improve her quality of life.
Take care.
Good Luck.

Hello,
Considering the situation your mother is where she is having diabetes with neuropathy and urinary incontinence, supra pubic catheter is the beet option for her.
It is very simple procedure and generally you have to change it in 4-6 weeks.
The change of catheter can be done by you.
You only have to learn it first time from the doctor and then you can do it yourself. You only have to take precaution regarding observing complete sterility while doing it to avoid infections.
Very frankly speaking there is no other good alternative also.
Thanks

Hello,
Thanks for the query to H.C.M. Forum.
When stoma is there & urine flow is not regular then only option is a suprapubic catheter .
In my opinion when urethral opening is very narrow, may be due to repeatedly catheterization , then only option is suprapubic catheter.
This is a minor surgery , hence get it by a surgeon. Patient can easily accept it .
Good luck.
