Hi mj.
Thanks for your question.
You are a known
depression patient.Had been on antidepressant for 2 years then suddenly stopped now you have again symptoms that suggest you have relapse of your depression.
When you started your first antidepressant before that what was the number of depressed episode you have?I am asking this particular question as after first attack of depression drug can be stopped after 3 years but from second attack onward life long antidepressant therapy is a must because otherwise there is a high chance of relapse which you have.
Please be remember from today that depression is notorious for its relapse and as the number and duration of relapses increases the prognosis becomes worse.
I also would like to know that do you have all time depression or you have elated mood, increases talkativeness, decreased sleep.increased appetite, increase sexual urge, increases goal directed activity, excessive buying and money spending, feeling of grandiosity etc in the inter episodal time.I am asking because most of the time depression start as unipolar but latter become bipolar with depression and mania/
hypomania in a cyclical order.that is called bipolar affective disorder and the treatment modality is different from pure depression.
So you should consult your
psychiatrist urgently, give him proper history, remembering the last point a highlighted and follow his advise of drugs strictly if he think he can apply cognitive behavior therapy on you, please be regular in the therapy also, maintain daily activity schedule, concentrate on education. You will be fine within next 3-4 weeks.
Best Wishes,
