Damaged Behind Left Knee. Painful And Cracking Sound While Straightening. Difficult To Walk. Cure?

I have damaged behind my left knee. I am sure exercise thru overuse and continuing to teach a water fitness class when it was acting up. It hurts a lot when I flex it mostly in the back (popit muscle?) moving outward &down the outside of my calf about an inch the pain is sharp and stabbing, difficult to walk it feels weak-untrustworthy. Not so much pain on the side like a muncus tear,.hard to flex my knee - pain seems to travel down my calf some and my knee is making a cracking sound when I straighten it

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
An MRI knee should be done to see for internal knee injuries. as well as for outer knee ligaments and muscle attachments. Once with clear diagnosis treatment can be initiated by an orthopedic surgeon.
In meantime just give your knee a rest in a hinged knee brace and take ant inflammatory medicines such as ibuprofen 400 mg thrice a day after meals. Apply hot packs and wait for appointment with orthopedic surgeon
