Cyst On Thyroid, Severe Fibrocystic Breast Disease, Swollen Lymph Nodes. On Ibuprofen. Emergency?
I have a cyst on my thyroid, severe fibrocystic breast disease ( I go every three months alternating between mammogram/sonogram and MRI) swollen lymph nodes ( which appear clear with sonogram) but I recently noticed a cyst on the inside of my arm on the side of my elbow joint . It radiates pain up under my arm and side of breast. Yesterday the pain was flu like body ache. I have been treating it with ice and ibprophin. Is this something that can wait till after Christmas
I have extracted following points from your query:
1. Cyst on thyroid- This cyst needs to be investigated by an ultrasound and FNAC (Fine needle aspiration cytology). FNAC is an office procedure in which cells are aspirated from the swelling using a needle. The cells aspirated are spread on a slide and examined under a microscope. The character of the lesion is known on FNAC and managed accordingly.
2. Lymph node and cyst on the arm/ elbow also needs to be investigated by FNAC.
3. Fibrocystic disease of breast- It is managed conservatively by medication and local application of oil of primrose. Visiting your doctor regularly for clinical examination is a good practise.
Thanks and take care
