Cramps On Outside Of Lower Leg, Long Distance Cyclist. Treatment?

I am a long distance cyclist who has suddenly started with severe cramping issues. Last night I cramped on the outside of the lower leg. Today, during a very hot and humid 50 mile ride I had unbelievable cramping at the end of the ride and after the ride. I m sure this is a diet issue, but what do I do to get this quickly under control? Thanks!

Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hello.
Thanks for writing to us.
The recurrent muscle cramps that you are having after a long distance cycling is likely to be related to dehydration and electrolyte imbalances. You need to have electrolyte rich fluids like garotade while cycling and avoid dehydration.
I hope this information has been both informative and helpful for you.
