Could Tingling In The Hands And Feet Be An Indication Of Pinched Nerve?

Imam a recent Ly diagnosed diabetic with extreme tingling in my hands and feet, it was assumed that is was neuropathy, my PT thinks it is a pinched nerve because it is symmetrical- the same place in both hands and both feet. I am on a lot of nerve mess waiting for an appoint with a neurologist. Could this be a pinched nerve instead?

Hi Dear ,

Welcome to HCM,

Understanding your concern. As per your query you are wondering if tingling in the hands and feet be an indication of pinched nerve . Well there can be many reasons for symptoms you mention in query like cervical spondolysis , cervical radicculopathy , low iron or glucose level . Diabetic neuropathy can also cause such symptoms .

I would suggest you to drink plenty of water , do light exercises likr brisk walk and yoga , apply warm compresses on hand and feet and consult chiropractor for proper examination . Doctor may order certain test like CT scan or MRI of spine .

Doctor may prescribe iron supplement or refer you to endocrinologist for diabetes problem . Doctor may also refer you to neurologist for nerve problem . Gentle massage with flax seed oil will help alot . Physical therapy and acupuncture will be helpful.

Hope your concern has been resolved.
