Hi,I am Dr. Subhankar Chakraborty (Gastroenterologist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Could The Stomach Pain And Light Headedness Indicate Anemia?
I am a 32 year old female- I have regular BM's, but today it was black and tarry. I've never had one like this before. Over the weekend I was having stomach pains. My stomach does not hurt today, but I am feeling light headed. Could this just be Anemia?
Noted the history about a 32 year old female having regular BM, but was black and tarry today, had pain in abdomen over the weekend, feeling lightheaded today. Black tarry stools are most suggestive of bleeding in the upper GI tract to the mid-colon site and must be investigated by an upper GI Endoscopy, colonoscopy, tests of blood, stool and urine.
Once diagnosed properly, a proper treatment and cure is possible. All these things together can lead to anemia and not the reverse way. Get anemia typing also.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards, Dr. T Chandrakant
