Could The Recurring Fever In Children Be Due To Dengue Or Malaria?

I stay in Delhi. Both my kids (9 and 5) are down with fever. My elder one had fever for two days. Then he was ok for one day. and today he has fever again (101). Could it be dengue or malaria or anything else as serious? Are these diseases spread in Delhi these days. Thanks in advance.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

If they are otherwise active, and do not have any other symptoms apart from fever, we need not worry. No need to worry about dengue or malaria at this point. This is probably a viral fever. Just give paracetamol 3-4 times a day for 3 days.

If fever persists beyond 3 days, additional symptoms appear, or they becomes lethargic or not feeding, kindly take them to a pediatrician for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
