Could Sudden Loss Of Memory Be The Symptom Of Alzheimer S?

Have had sudden loss of memory twice now. Last for 4 hours or so. I continue to function but can t remember that we moved 10 years ago. I remember my children. Keep asking the same questions over. When I come out of it I can t remember . Any of what I said or did. My children just tell me what happened. Have had 2 cat scans that show nothing. Could this be a symptom of early Alzheimer??

Hello and welcome to HCM,
Alzheimer's disease is characterized by loss of short term memory and retention of long term memory till long.
This means that person remembers events from past quite well but forgets the current day to day activities and events.
Your history is similar to tat seen in Alzheimers's.
Alzheimer's disease does not produce any characteristic CT scan changes so it cannot be picked up on CT scan.
The diagnosis of Alzheimer's is predominantly clinical and when other causes of memory loss are ruled out.
However, it is important to rule out other causes of recent memory loss.
Vascular disorders, senile amnesia are other causes of recent memory loss.
I suggest you to consult a neurologist for clinical assessment, relevant investigations and thus management.

Thanks and take care
