Could Sudden Fatigue, Mood Swings, Slurring Words In A Teenager Indicate Drug Abuse?

signs of abuse
i am concerned my 16 year old may be using. he is a very athletic boy and over the past few weeks he has no energy is very tired grumpy is slurring words mumbling not able to have a conversation without rushing thru it and walking away. he says he is just wore out. are these signs of an issue. and can i have him tested without his knowledge

Hi,

I feel your concerns are well placed. Such a change of behavior is not likely to be due just to fatigue. You would need blood or urine samples for testing and he is likely to understand. I would suggest that you tell him that he needs a medical assessment for his fatigue. The doctor can then arrange for the tests needed.
