Could Sores In Mouth Be Due To HSV-1?

After I had a c- section in 2002 somehow I contacted hsv-1. I can still see where the bumps were on my lips. and corners of my mouth. I just got back with my ex. I don t know if I m just being paranoid but I m noticing things and don t know if they fit together. In January I had gotten a canker sore on the under side of my tongue on the left side. I attributed that to acidic food and candy. Then as I felt like it was going away, I got one on the right side under my tongue as well. They lasted for a long time and the pain was horrific. I difdn t see a Dr, I chose to self medicate. Then I noticed this tiny bump on my gums above my incisors no pain with that though. Then I noticed that I had a sore on the right and left sides of my tongue, again I assumed the delicious jolly ranchers were to blame. Following that I noticed some large I don t know what to call them... sores, ulcers, anomalies on t the middle-ish back part of my tongue...painful. Later I noticed a bump on the inner part of my posterior cheek it was very painful and eventually burst like a pimple...along with another on my labia, again excruciating pain and burst as well. I ve been having terrible back pain, cotton mouth and have been terribly fatigued and tried past few months. I take daily vitamins, additional iron supplement, adderall, bupropion, diclofenac and venlafaxine. I have associated these occurrences with logical explanations and assumptions. However I m wondering could I have hsv-2? Is this all from the hsv-1 I contacted in 2002? Is this an outbreak? I have been with my partner for 5 years because he s kissed me while I ve had sores in my mouth (under my tongue) & of course there has been oral sex, does that mean he s automatically been infected?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC.

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain the sores/ulcers inside the mouth that you are explaining seems to be more like canker sores and not cold sres caused by HSV-1..
It seems to be a case of Recurring Apthous Stomatitis or Recurring Apthous Ulcers..
The sore over labia can be a HSV-2 infection but can be confirmed after a clinical examination and proper investigations..
As you are also on a number of medications that are used to treat anxiety and depressive disorders, the recurring ulcers can also be due to the side effect of any of these medications..
Cottony mouth can be due to oral fungal infection known as Oral Thrush while dry mouth can also be a cause and culprit for ulcers and thrush.
Backache and fatigue also needs to be ruled out and you need to consult a Physician..
My suggestion would be that you need a proper consultation and evaluation by an Oral Physician and he can also advise you investigations depending upon the suspected cause..
In case if canker sores is ruled out then certain investigations like serum vitamin b12 and Hemoglobin % etc can be advised to you..
In case if cold sores is suspected then antigen antibody reaction, polymerase chain reaction and viral culture can help in confirmation..
Treatment can be advised only after a confirmatory diagnosis..
As of now you can take supportive treatment like Gargle with a numbing mouthwash containing Lignocaine to relieve pain..
Gargle with 1:1 solution of benadryl and milk of magnesia..
Suck ice and do cold water rinses.
Continue taking multivitamins.
Avoid spicy food and drink plenty of water..
Limit intake of sour and tart candies and foods..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
