Could Sore Persistent Throat, headache And Body Ache Be Symptoms Of STD?

Hi,two weeks ago I recently engaged in giving unprotected oral sex to a man who I didn t know.i know I was been very foolish and regretted it as soon as it was over.my main concern is if I ve caught an std from this.prior to this say a few days before hand id had 1 bout of diaharea and sickness.this only lasted a day and then went away.also I ve recently split with my ex partner who whilst I was with him was having weird symtoms such as severe night sweats and headaches.anyway back to the episode of two weeks ago, since then I ve had a sore throat, headache, body aches which is not unusual as I used to get them frequently anyway, and also a few more bouts of sickness and diaharea.im really worried now to the point where I can t sleep or do anything except worry.any advise would be much appreciated.thankyou

Hello. Thank you for writing to us

The sexual act that you mention was unprotected therefore risky in terms of transmission of an STD.
It is not clear to me the kind of sexual contacts that you were engaged in with your previous sexual partner, whether they were heterosexual or homosexual and whether they were protected or not.
The systemic symptoms that you mention in you and your ex- sexual partner are not confirmatory of STD including HIV but they certainly cannot be ignored without appropriate testing, particularly in the setting of multiple partners and unprotected sexual contact.
I suggest you to get yourself screened for all STD's including HIV.
Screening for HIV is by antibody based test and would detect circulating antibodies to it if you were infected with HIV, anytime before the preceding 3 months of taking up this test.
I suggest that you visit a venereologist in your region for more details regarding testing and counselling regarding safe sexual practices.
