Could Shortness Of Breath Be Due To Overweight?

Hello I m a 51 yr olf woman about 25 lbs over my weight that I should be. Its been 2 yrs I had a double mastectomy with recontruction surgery. I m on tomoxafin and will be for 8 yrs. So my joints hurt at times. I went through forced menapause.Blood pressure is perfect 120-110/ 70 usually. I gained this weight after my surgery and am trying now to exercise and eat healthier. My question is when I run up and down the stairs or take out the garbadge I get out of breath. It scares me no one likes that feeling. I had a chest exray and all is clear. Also had radiation a yr ago to so they did a chest xray before and after treatment. What could this be and what should I do for myself. Thank You Joann

Hi,

One is There could post radiation lung injury and post surgery would affect chest movement, can comment more on this if you provide more detailed surgery details. People who are obese will have less diaphragm movements and if one has snoring, frequently awake in night better to get a sleep study to rule out OSA. Physiotherapy and weight loss will help along with inhalers.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
