Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Hello. I was recently in the ER due to severe pain in my lower right abdomen. The doctor performed several tests and finally a CAT scan was ordered. The doctor could not identify what was causing the pain. What he did see if that a clamp from a tubal ligation (2012) had fallen off on my right side. The clamp is currently nestled in my pelvis. It isn t causing any pain and there is no reason to remove the clamp - per the doctor. Which I am fine with. My question - what is the likelihood that I could get pregnant? I m in a different place in life and the thought makes me smile. I m 41, incredibly healthy. My mothers mom had her last child at 38 (1955) and my fathers mother at 42 (1953). All the women in my family are healthy. I am just worried about scar tissue. Thoughts?
Actually the following are few signs of early pregnancy: 1) Missed periods 2) Nausea and vomiting 3) Frequent urination 4) Light spotting 5) Breast tenderness 6) Easy fatigability
If you have the above signs, you can just take a home pregnancy test and check the result. There won't be severe pain abdomen in pregnancy unless it is complicated. The following are few causes of pain in the lower right abdomen: 1) Acute appendicitis 2) Acute diverticulitis 3) Urinary stone 4) Urinary tract infection 5) Inflammatory bowel disease 6) Kidney infection 7) Irritable bowel disease 8) Ovarian cyst 9) Ovarian torsion 10) Pelvic inflammatory disease
The tubal ligation clamp is not the cause of your severe abdominal pain. You can go for ultrasound imaging of abdomen and pelvis to identify the accurate diagnosis and initiate appropriate treatment.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
