Could Severe Abdominal Pain During Breath Test Be Indication Of Bacterial Overgrowth?

I took a breath test for bacterial overgrowth. I drank a solution and not too long after, my stomach started to hurt like it was an reaction to it. It has continued to hurt all day. It is a very uncomfortable pain/feeling. Is this a bad thing? What does it mean? Do I have bacterial overgrowth?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

The symptoms seem to be related to a side effect of the solution that you drank. I suggest using a spasmolytic such as Buscopan three times a day. I also suggest using daily probiotics. If the symptoms continue, I suggest to do a stool test for further evaluation.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Dorina Gurabardhi, General & Family Physician
