Could Rashes And Itching In The Upper Arms Be Due To An Allergic Reaction To Cortisone Shot?

I had a cortisone shot in my knee about 3 weeks ago. I have been itching in my upper arms and now have a rash and under skin looking blotches. I itch all the time. Mostly on upper arms but also some on other places. My head itches a lot. Could it be a reaction to the shot?

Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advise.

Cortisone is corticosteroid used for many conditions.
It has anti-inflammatory action.
It is used to treat allergic reaction so there is NO chance of getting allergies with it.

Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards
Dr. Hiren
