Could Raised BP Be Due To Smoking Before Taking The Test?
MY NORMAL BLOOD PRESSURE IS AROUND 120 / 130 OVER 70.
YESTERDAY I WENT FOR MY NORMAL CHECK UP AND SMOKED BEFORE I WENT INTO MY DOCTORS OFFICE. HE TOLD MY BLOOD PRESSURE AND IT WAS 171. FROM SMOKING BEFORE I WENT INTO
HIS OFFICE ? NOW HE WANTS ME TO TAKE BLOOD PRESSURE PILL AND I DON'T WANT TO BECAUSE MY PRESSURE HAS ALWAYS BEEN GOOD.

Single incidence of elevated B.P is not an indication of starting anti hypertensives.
Increased B.P may be due to anxiety.
You need charting of B.P for five days.B.P should be recorded after proper rest.
If B.P readings are constantly elevated then anti hypertensives should be taken.
In such condition patient also need few other investigation like routine hemogram,RBS,LFT,RFT,Lipid profile,ECG in all leads.
You should avoid smoking.
