Could Persistent Cough Be Due To Infection Of Lungs And Chest?

Hello
I have had a cough for 2-almost 3 weeks now.
the phelgm is gone and i don't cough very often but when i do it hurts my heart.
its not my lungs, its specifically the area where my heart should be.
i'm worried it might be infected chest/lung, but if its just bruising from coughing too much then how do i get better?
thank you.

Pulmonologist 's  Response
thanks for asking your question
I completely understand your question
yes it can be chest infection or a lower resp tract infection
earlier cough was productive with yellow sputum then it was infective
if it is now associated with chest pain u need to get a chest xray and rule out any disease like pleural effusion, tb , other resp tract infection
you need to consult a pulmonologist for accurately diagnose your situation after some simple investigations
thanks/ regards
feel free to ask more questions
may god bless you with good health
