Could Pain In The Vocal Cord Area Be Due To Bile Reflux?

I have throat pain, right vocal chord area. I used to be a singer and started losing my voice 5 or 6 years ago. Dr said I had acid reflux and gave me meds for it. I still have the pain in my throat but I very rarely have stomach upset or pain. Specialist says it doesn t look like acid reflux but could be bile reflux. I would like to know which it is so that I can treat it effectively. Any suggestions?

Dear thanks for the question.

Firstly let me tell you that it can be acid reflux not bile. Acid teflux is most common. Morever bile reflux doesn't reach vocal cords. I have not heard this.

You need to take treatment for acid reflux. Since you didn't seem to have got any relief, treatment needs modifications. I treat my patients by antacids (pantoperazole 40mg), antiemetic (domperidone), diet modifications (less spices, less hot, 4 hours before bedtime) and sleep in reclining position.

Vocal cords damage will take much longer time (you may not get your previous voice).

I hope my reply benefited you. Kindly write a feedback. Do write for follow up queries. I wish you good health.
