Could Liver Enzymes Cause Urine To Be Insufficient Or Invalid For Drug Test?
MY AUNT HAS HAD HER CHILDREN TAKEN AWAY FROM HER FROM CPS BECAUSE THEY SAID SHE FAILED A URINE TEST AND COME OUT POSITIVE WITH OPIATES AND ANPHETAMINES. She has the prescriptions and discharge summary with her, but that still did not help. They have continued to give her ua drug tests and most of them have came out negative but there are a couple a test that came out insufficiant for invalid, but not positive. My aunt has just found out that she has hepatitis c, cirrhosis of the liver and constant urinary track infection. I currently have her children and need to know if this can cause her urine to be insufficiant or invalid. Her creatine level was .8 I have gone with her to get her ua's. She is not allowed to take anything with her in there is no sink and the toilet water is blue. Can having these diagnosis or her liver enzymes cause this her urine to be insufficant or invalid? Please help her children want to be home with her so badly especially since their father has past way from stomach cancer 1 month ago.
I'm so sorry to hear that. That sounds like a difficult situation. Let me try to answer your questions one at a time. First of all, if the urine test was done while she was in the hospital, pain medications such as norco, vicodin, percocet, oxycodone, morphine, dilaudid, fentanyl or other opiate based pain medication will cause her to be positive for opioids. In terms of the amphetamines, adderall is a common medication that can cause her to be positive. My recommendation would be to get a list of every medication she was given at the hospital and the emergency room - the discharge summary simply lists the medications that she's supposed to take at home and doesn't mention what medications she was given in the hospital.
A creatinine level of 0.8 is normal, and her UA won't really make a difference in terms of false positives. The diagnosis of liver cirrhosis won't make her urine results invalid, especially with a normal creatnine. Your best bet here is to get a list of every medication she was given during the hospital and have that reviewed by CPS. Remember, the discharge summary doesn't tell what medications were given in the hospital.
I hope this answers your question. Please feel free to contact me if you have any further questions.
