Hi, I am a 67 yr old diabetic (25 yrs). 2 1/2 years ago I was hospitalized due to a auto crash. Upon release from the hospital (2 yrs ago) I began rehab. I was confined to a wheel chair for 2 months. When I began to walk I discovered a post surgical Leg Length Discrepancy (over 1/2 ). I felt that the LLD was the reason for my dizziness and loss of balance. I began using a correcting orthotic, but the imbalance continued UNTIL (completely unrelated to my balance issue), due to some cognitive impairment issues I stopped taking my Off The Shelf vitamins and I particularly stopped eating spinach. I then discovered that my Vitamin D levels have consistently been below 30 , over 2 yrs post hospital. I had been prescribed 50k iu p/week of D2 during the period of cognitive impairment and imbalance, that resulted in the 2 yr, sub 30 Vitamin D results. Once I began supplementing the weekly 50,000 D2 iu with daily 5,000 D3 iu s, I began to slowly recovery cognitively and improve my balance. Problem: Upon resuming my diet particularly spinach (both raw or cooked), I seem to be gradually more dizzy and imbalanced. I have not resumed taking OTS vitamins (i.e. multiple, lutein, etc.). It seems to me that the return to eating spinach (daily) could be contributing, at least, to the imbalance problem, but is it also possible that the return of spinach in the diet could effect my cognitive abilities, as well because balance requires a degree of cognitive awareness (in order to recognize surroundings)?
