Could I Have Been Exposed To Something After Getting A Tattoo Done?

I got a tattoo last night and when he put the template on i didnt like the placement so I asked him to pit it lower. He grabbed the template out of the nearby trashcan put it on my wrist and then threw it away again and started with the tattoo. Could I have been exposed to anything?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,

Usually, infections are common when doing tattoo, including common bacterial infections to severe viral infections (hepatitis C).

I suggest to watch the place where the tattoo was made for signs of:
- allergic reactions (rash)
- infection (rash, pus)

and general signs like:
- high fever
- general malaise
- other uncommon symptoms

Once you notice anything unusual, should contact your physician as soon as possible.

Dr.Albana
