Could Headaches With Brown Spots In Vision Be Something Serious?

My friends daughter woke up to her eye closed, unless she holds it open with her fingers. She is having headaches, pain in that side of her face. They say she has brown spots , with tails, in back of the cornea. Her other eye is straining, they gave her some drops. Is this serious?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since she is having a headache associated with brown spots in the eyes. She is suggested to get clinically examined by an ophthalmologist.

Spots and freckles in the eyes are commonly harmless but it is better to rule out Congenital nevi, conjunctival melanoma & melanosis.

Headache may occur due to tension headache or problem in eye sight. She may need a pair of lens & medications.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
Dr Nupur K, General & Family Physician
