Could Exposure To X Rays During Pregnancy Be Harmful?

my daughter has been in the hospital for a couple of months and I have been in the room for her xrays and helped hold her a couple of times.i just found out I am about 4months pregnant.i thought it was just stress when my period didn t come. I have a doctors appointment coming up soon. I am really worried about the exposure to xrays the baby may have received.how would they determine if anything is wrong at this stage?

This is Dr Amit. Let me help you in this case
It depends on the type of X-ray you need and exactly how much radiation you're going to be exposed to. The higher the level of radiation, the greater the risk to your baby
The strength of X-rays is measured in rads. Rads are the units that show how much radiation is absorbed by the body. Exposing an unborn baby to more than 10 rads has been shown to increase the risk of learning disabilities and eye problems.
But you needn't worry. Most X-rays are much weaker than this. It's rare for any X-ray to be stronger than five rads. And as you were exposed INDIRECTLY so chances of adverse effects are negligible.
So I will advise you do not worry and avoid such exposure in the future
