Could Dryness In Mouth Be Due To Lamictal And Losartan?
I recently began to experience dry mouth and the feeling of thickness and soreness in my tongue. I would like to know if this is medication related, I take lamictal, Wellbutrin losertan/hctz , adderral and ornate ultram. Could one of these be the source?
I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns....
As per your complain Lamictal and losartan both seems to have a common side effect of causing a dry mouth and as both are being taken together there can be a cumulative effect and can cause dry mouth.. I would suggest you to consult your treating physician and get evaluated and he can do a clinical evaluation and if possible he can reduce the dose of the medicine to reduce the severity of dry mouth.. As of now you can chew sugar free chewing gums and suck tart candies to stimulate saliva flow.. You can also use artificial saliva drops to be instilled multiple times in mouth for relief.. Drink plenty of water.. Avoid regular mouthwash as they have drying effect on mucosa and you can use specialized mouthwash formulated for dry mouth patient like Biotene mouthwash for relief..
Hope this information helps..
Thanks and regards. Dr.Honey Nandwani Arora..
