Could Difficulty In Swallowing Liquids And Cloudy Urine Be Side Effects Of Cyclosporin?
Hi, I am on cyclosporin for psoriasis. Started 1 1/2 weeks ago. Dose is low (150 mg) daily: I weigh 150 lbs. I feel fine but have noticed slight difficulty swallowing liquids and my urine is darker and poss a bit cloudy. I was prescribed by a dermatologist , my next appointment is in 6 weeks ( though have blood tests 2 weekly). My question is are these side effects a problem ie should I get in touch with doctor or are they ok. Also can you drink alcohol on cyclosporin. I can t find an answer definitively!
Cloudy urine is due to infection. You need to do urine routine examination and urine culture sensitivity test as you are prone to infection while under Cyclosporine. Liver dysfunction can cause jaundice & dark urine. Cyclosporine, however, does not cause swallowing difficulty. there is no known interaction between cyclosporin and alcohol (ethanol). There is no particular reason for you to avoid alcohol while taking cyclosporine. Avoid heavy acute alcohol intake due to the possible increase of cyclosporine levels.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
