Could Diarrhea With Mucus, Cramps And Fever Indicate Diverticulitis?

Had explosive diarrhea, with cramps, mucus is passing out and I have slight fever. Started Tuesday a.m. as of Friday fever has subsided, cramps are only ocassional and mild when eating now only eating plain soft food. I have an appetite but am afraid to eat. I was told 7 years ago at my last colonoscopy that I may have diverticulitis. Can t get an appointment with my Gastrointerologist for 3 weeks. does this should live treatning or can I wait to see my doctor.

Hello,
Your symptoms suggest that it could be viral gastroenteritis since you have recovered substantially and feel much better, however you must consult a gastroenterologist for clearing doubts. It is not at all life threatening situation and can easily wait for another 3 weeks.
Kerp taking fluids.Your appetite shall return to normal very soon.Till then eat light by taking soft and bland diet.
Thanks
