Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
I have had protected sex with my partner before my period in Feb. However, I end up getting a full regular period after sex that lasted for 7 days. Recently, I have been exercising almost daily which is a new routine and I am 6 days late in my March period. Since my last period, I have not had any sex. I am scared for my late period. What is going on. Am I the p word?
Normal menstrual cycle is between 21 to 35 days. So any delay that falls within the cycle is normal. Your period delay by 6 days is normal too. Yes, vigorous exercise can cause delay in periods. But you don't need to worry as it will get adjusted by itself. You can't be pregnant as you didn't participate in intercourse since your last period.
Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Pallavi M., Anesthesiologist
