Could Coughing Green And Yellow Phlegm Indicate Viral Infection In Larynx?

I have been I ll with cold like Symptoms for a few days. Have been having mid to severe migraines on and off the past week, and now today pain in my voice box when I cough or tilt my head back. It does not hurt to swallow and I have not had a fever that I know of. Extremely tired and lots of coughing up green/yellow phlem. Could I have a viral infection in my voice box?

Hi..
Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concerns..

As per your complain it seems that you are suffering from upper respiratory tract infection generally known as common cold and the symptoms of cough, headache/migraine and pain in vice box seems to be due to infection and inflammation..
I would suggest you to consult an Otolayngologist and get evaluated and a throat swab culture and sputum culture can help in diagnosis and treatment can be planned accordingly..
You can be advised to take a course of antibiotics like Azithromycin, anti-inflammatory painkiller like Ibuprofen, decongestant like Phenylephrine, anti allergics like Levocetrizine..
Do warm saline gargles atleast 3 to 4 times a days..
Suck throat lozenges to soothe the throat..
Avoid spicy and chilled foods and drink plenty of warm water..
Steam inhalations can also relieve the symptoms..

Hope this information helps..

Thanks and regards.
