Could Constant Ringing, Feeling Of Fullness And Pressure In Ears With On And Off Pain In Left Gland Under Ear Be Related?

I have had for years now a ringing in both ears. No one seems to be able to day anything about it. I have had now for approx. 6 months a full feeling in both ears. I have to pop them by holding my nose and blowing several times a day to release the pressure. I now have and have had for about 2 months intermittent pain in my left gland under my ear. Do you think these are all related? The ringing seems to be something I am just going to have to live with.

welcome to HCM!

I have read your query and I can say from my clinical experience that your problems are related with ear.

The ringing. - also known a tinnitus, is a very commonly seen complaint in clinical practice, usually goes on , with some fluctuation in intensity, but many times one has to live with it. By itself, tinnitus is supposed to be harmless and so, only multi vitamins are given.

It is best ignored by the patients, and then it seem to reduce. So, you are almost right in saying that it would continue. But even then, I would ask you to be adjusting with its presence and bring peace with it in your mind, may be use background music to calm and reduce its presence. In this way it will not disturb you much!
This thing really worked with many of my patients with chronic tinnitus problem.

Now, the new set of symptoms which you have mentioned- pain and fullness in ear and painful swollen gland below ear: this looks like as if there is some internal ear infection and should be examined and treated as soon possible. this may also increase your tinnitus for the time, but when adequately treated, it will decrease back.

One needs to ckheck the ear & throat and then accordingly advised drugs. I usually go with a course of antibiotic and some decongestants, may be with use of warm water for some time.

I Can almost assure you that the new set of symptoms will go away with managment.
Please meet an ENT specialist.

Hope you get well soon,
