Could Blue And Purple Mark With A Round Hardened Skin Be Tick Bite?

My 84 yr old neighbor who gardens outside came to me wondering if she had a tick on her back It didn t look like a tick - no body or legs skin was not broken - I saw a blue/purple mark in the middle of a round hardening of skin - that wouldn t be a tick bite?

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hi,
It could not be tick bite because ticks usually bites at moist and warm areas like scalp, armpit, groin to suck the blood.
However purple or bluish mark with hard skin bite area could be due to some other insect bite present in the garden.
If there is no any other symptoms then it will subside by itself or you may give antihistamines tablets or apply topical ointment/cream.
If problem persists with pain and inflammation then you should see dermatologist.
