Hi,I am Dr. Amitkumar Sharma (Internal Medicine Specialist). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
Ok I m a 15 year old female I m taking 5,000 mcgs of biotin once a day. I started taking it because I ve heard taking biotin would help my nails and hair get stronger and thicker and they would grow longer but I ve becoming bloated horribly (im not on my menstrual cycle and I won t have it for 2 more weeks) should I stop taking it to get rid of my bloating.
Biotin per se , is not seen to have any side effects and is largely free of toxicity unlike oter vitamins. Moreover, deficiency states can be treated with dioses as high as 10mg/day.
So your primary problem of bloating cant be attributed to it and hence biotin can be continued.
Hope this helps.
