Could Black Specks In Bowels And Anal Itching Be Due To Helminths?

Hello, It's embarrassing to say, but I have been having anus itching for past couple of days. I took a Vermont about 8-9 days ago, because my sister who lives with me also had one. I usually take vanquin once a year, just to clean the body clean. But today I saw tiny black specks like things on the toilet paper. I am wondering if I have any kind of worm infection? Can you help me with this please?

Hi..Welcome to HEALTHCARE MAGIC..

I have gone through your query and can understand your concern...
Yes black specks in bowels and anal itching be due to helminths mostly pinworms. But we have to rule out other causes of anal itching before that. Other causes of anal itching include the following:-
- Anal itching can be caused by irritating chemicals in the foods we eat, such as are found in spices, hot sauces, and peppers.
- Anal itching also can be caused by the irritation of continuous moisture in the anus from frequent liquid stools, diarrhea, or escape of small amounts of stool (incontinence).
- haemorrhoids & anal fistulas can cause itching & bleeding as well

First of all you should avoid having spicy & fried items. You could take laxatives if you are having constipation.

If still problem persist, visit a gastroenterologist he would examine & findout if there are some fistulas or haemorrhoids present & would treat accordingly

Hope this information helps
