Could Bad Odour From Vagina Be Due To Fish Oil Tablets?
Hi I have fibroids, started taking fish oil tablets, folate and calcium tablets from health food shop. My vagina has worst smell. Had a shower didn t smell, started having sex with partner we had to stop because of smell. Is this fish oil tablet? Or the fibroids deteriorating?

General & Family Physician, Dr. Nishad BN's Response
Hi Thank you for asking HCM. I have gone through your query. Fish oil doesn't give such problem . It can be due to infection. Bacterial vaginosis gives characteristic fishy smell. A swab test should be done to rule out the condition. For bacterial vaginosis I treat my patients with metronidazole or clindamycin with clotrimazole as vaginal suppository or as oral tablets. Using intimate wash regularly will be helpful to normalize vaginal bacterial flora and PH and prevent such infections. Fibroids can get infected. In case of that there will be associated pelvic pain and bleeding. Ultrasound examination can be done to rule out that also. Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
